FLOOR PROTECTION TILES - RUBBER FLOOR

In this blog we explain the most important properties that a sports floor should have.
There are many factors that together ensure good floor protection. Besides slip resistance, material density, strength and quality is especially noise minimization a very important factor.
The floor also serves to protect training equipment and training materials from damage.

Where to use the sports floor?

In fitness studios and/or personal training studios there are several areas where floor protection tiles are being used; In the cardio area, in classrooms, in the functional training area or in the strength area. In CrossFit boxes the floor is often completely covered with a rubber floor to allow functional use of the entire training are. Floor protection tiles are also used in physiotherapy practices, hotels, corporate fitness rooms and in Home Gyms.
Our checklist will help you make the for you most suitable purchase decision.

For your planning | RXDGear Check List
1) In which training area will the rubber floor be used?
2) What type of training will be done?
3) How slip-resistant should the sports floor be?
4) Should the rubber floor have high sound-absorbing properties?
5) Should the floor be protected?

Basic data
RXDGear rubber granulate floor protection tiles are the absolute all-rounder for professional use.
Size 1m x 1m and available in black and grey. We offer floor protection mats in various thicknesses (15mm, 20mm, 30mm and 43mm) and designed with surfaces for different applications.

Our recommendation
To avoid noise disturbance for your neighbors during training, we recommend a floor with high noise and shock-absorbing properties. This will minimize training noise and will also better protect your training equipment for any damage during use and dropping.

Cleaning the Supreme Rubber Floor is slightly easier because the surface has an extra fine structure.

For outdoor training, we recommend a surface with a more rough structure and structured bottom side of the tile, so the rainwater can we transported/drained better and faster.

How to install the rubber floor tiles?

The best installation technique is in a semi-overlapping pattern. Put down the first row of tiles and check the dimensions. When proceeding, lift the second row of tiles slightly and put the floor tile on top of the first row (slightly overlapping). Only when all rubber floor tiles have been laid, press the slightly overlapping parts together in de seams and press them strongly together. This is possible due to the elastic property of the rubber granulate.

For even more stability, use double-sided tape.

Especially if the fitness floor is not against walls and is open at the outer edges.

Cutting the rubber floor tiles.
Cutouts and loose pieces can easily be made with a sharp box cutter knife or jigsaw.

Costs saving on floor protection is often not the correct decision!
Those who save on rubber floor quality or strength most of the times are not satisfied at long terms.
The impact of training equipment and vibrations will cause cracks and holes in poor-quality floor protection tiles. Sometimes even the subfloor, such as the screed, is being damaged. Ultimately, this leads to annoyance and extra costs.
Closing the training room for reconstruction won't do your members any favor either.
